Base models will be equipped with a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, which puts out around 182 horsepower. It seems okay for daily commuting but more ambitious drivers should definitely consider an optional 2.4-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Driving dynamics are significantly better in this case.
Both engines come in pair with a CVT gearbox and both offer pretty good fuel economy. The base engine returns around 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The optional turbo-four is thirstier and returns 3 mpg less in both cases.

Design-wise, there are no changes for the Subaru Outback 2024. We are about to see the same layout that debuted last year. The model visually resembles the previous generation a lot, things are actually much different under the hood. The new generation has been completely redesigned, so the new model rides on the company’s new, highly modular platform. Of course, this particular model has most things in common with Legacy, like before.
In terms of styling, this redesign has brought evolutionary changes only. While the overall look is kinda familiar, everything looks sharper and more modern. Of course, we are talking about the Outback’s typical layout, which takes best from two worlds, worlds of crossovers and station wagons.
It’s hard to expect any particular change for the next year. The Subaru Outback 2024 is about to come with the same styling and the best we could see are things like new color options, though even that doesn’t sound particularly likely.
Interior
Changes on the inside aren’t expected either. The Subaru Outback 2024 continues with a familiar cabin layout, which has been significantly upgraded last year. Everything looks way more upscale compared to the previous generation. Materials are nicer, as well as aesthetics. Although fit and finish were always pretty impressive, things are even better now. The Japanese manufacturer is very generous with standard equipment, and all that has a highly positive impact on the overall interior look.

Of course, practicality and functionality are on a super-high level and the Subaru Outback 2024 will certainly continue in the same way. Both rows are very generous with space, while we particularly like great driving position and very good visibility in all directions. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 32.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the overall cargo volume goes around 76 cubic feet. These are pretty impressive ratings for the class.
Features
As we already mentioned, the biggest novelties for the second production year are additions to the list of standard equipment. It now also includes things like adaptive headlamps, a rear-seat reminder system, and a passenger’s seatbelt warning light and chime. The list of standard equipment also includes all those goodies from the previous model year. Those would be things like two 7-inch touch screens, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and two USB ports.
In higher trim levels, you can get tech goodies like an 11.6-inch touch screen, two rear USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, navigation, wireless device charging, a Rockford Fosgate stereo, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo. The list of options also includes things like dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a moonroof.
Subaru Outback 2024 Release Date and Price
The Subaru Outback 2024 will arrive in showrooms in the next couple of weeks. The starting price should go around 27.900 dollars. When it comes to the competition, those would mostly be similarly-priced two-row crossovers, such as Ford Edge, Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
