BMW X7 2024: Facelift and Release Date. The full-size luxury SUV class is richer for one new model. A few months ago, BMW launched sales of its largest model, X7. Its special, performance-oriented model is announced for the first update in 2023. What fans can expect from the BMW X7 2024?

We can hear that the German engineers are working on an electric version. The mid-size X5 SUV is available in Europe, while the model is arriving at the United States next season. With 390 horsepower, it is pretty capable. The full-size model steps up with the superb performance, and the hybrid is not quite great in this field. Another option is always good to offer.

The rest of the BMW X7 2024 is not taking any changes. So let’s see what will fans of full-size luxury SUVs have to choose.

BMW X7 2024

Petrol vs Diesel Engines

European X7 is coming with diesel engines under the hood. There are two setups available, both based on a 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The standard model is going to produce 260 hp and 460 lb-ft. Turbocharged I6 is creating the same amount of power and torque for the smaller X5.

A quad-turbo configuration appears as the M50d model and raises up the performance to 395 hp and 560 lb-ft of twist. The BMW X7 2024 will need 5.5 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph.

In the US, only petrol engines are powering the full-size SUV. The base version is a 3.0-liter inline-size with the capability to produce 340 hp and 332 lb-ft. the xDrive50i is getting power from a 4.4-liter V8 unit. Of course, this raises the performance to another level. Owners of this version can count on 455 hp and 480 pound-feet of torque, or if they go after a twin-turbo M50i model, then the outputs reach 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of twisting power.

All the time, the engines are sending power to all wheels (xDrive system). A power router is an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The X7 has a maximum towing capacity of 3,5 tones (7,700 kg). A combined fuel economy for the base version is 22 mpg, while the V8 returns 17 miles per gallon.

BMW X7 2024 M

The performance-oriented M package is arriving for the 2023 YM. Of course, the Bavarian carmaker will carry over this model for the next season. The BMW X7 2024 M is more aggressive than the standard version, thanks to the numerous upgrades. The sportier cabin offers top-notch equipment and super-premium materials.

But, the main upgrade is under the bonnet. A special treatment will make a 4.4 V8 engine produce over 600 horsepower and it will require a revisit of the transmission system. According to announcements, the full-size X7 M needs about 4.5 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph. Retuned air suspension, M Sport brakes and differential, and dynamic damper control will boost safety, traction, and balance at high speeds.

This vehicle will use special wheels, sporty bumpers, and lowered suspension. The M package increases already huge front bumper and large air intakes in its corners. Only details on the side and the back will make it different from the standard BMW X7 2024.

Inside, the performance-oriented version is the same as the base one. It adds premium features and materials, such as Alcantara leather, or Merino leather at higher trims. The Panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof is a highlight. Additional options are Cold Weather and Premium Package. With these, the price of the X7 M will reach $125,000. Still, it is $5,000 cheaper than the Mercedes GLS AMG 63.

Hybrid

The similarities between X5 and X7 are evident. Even their high-performance versions are lookalikes. The mid-size SUV is getting a hybrid version next season. Does it mean the BMW X7 2024 is going the same way? Very possible. The company could upgrade the xDrive45e package to deliver more power for the larger SUV.

Currently, the European edition is creating 390 horsepower. It combines a 3.0-liter engine with an 82-kW battery and the X5 can run 50 miles by using only the electric power. The boost will make the BMW X7 2024 PHEV return the same mileage, but the heavier SUV needs a larger battery, that will also deliver more power. We don’t think the BMW is ready to combine an electric motor with a V8.

BMW X7 2024 vs Mercedes GLS

We already mentioned another premium German carmaker and its full-size SUV. It is not a surprise. BMW, Mercedes, and Audi are the fiercest rivals. With the late one out of the full-size SUV competition, there are only two models fighting for supremacy. Of course, details and personal preferences will be decisive, since both BMW X7 2024 and Mercedes GLS will offer similar options and prices. Even the high-performance versions, M and AMG are going to be priced at the same level, between $125-130k.
