GMC Terrain 2024: AT4 and Pictures. Living in the world of compact crossovers is extremely tough these days. We are talking about the most crowded and most competitive segment in the automotive industry, which includes a plethora of well-designed models. So, you definitely need something to stand out from the crowd. This model didn’t have anything like that so far, but things could change with the GMC Terrain 2024, which is about to come with a lot of interesting changes.

The next year will be pretty important for Terrain, as it is about to receive a facelift. This mid-cycle update will include a lot of styling changes, which should make this model look more appealing. Styling, we will see a new off-road version, with the familiar AT4 badge, designed for more enthusiastic drivers. On the other side, the interior won’t suffer too much, while the engine lineup is about to remain the same. We expect to see the GMC Terrain 2024 sometime in the second half of the year.

GMC Terrain 2024 Engines

This aspect won’t bring bigger changes. So, you may count on two familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 170 horsepower and comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It feels decent for daily commuting, but isn’t enough for a convenient highway ride. A 2.0-liter engine seems like a much better choice, as it’s good for about 250 horses and offers notably better dynamics. This engine comes with a nicer 9-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the class. In the case of the bigger engine, fuel economy drops by 2 mpg.

GMC Terrain 2024 Redesign

The next year will bring several changes to the GMC Terrain 2024. As you may presume, the focus will be on visual updates. The facelifted model will get novelties on both ends of the vehicle, with new headlights, new grille and bumpers, all designed to provide a bolder and more rugged look, in the manner of GMC’s pickup trucks. Of course, we also count on typical updates in terms of new color options, wheels etc.

Another important novelty is the addition of the AT4 model. Like other GMC models, the Terrain will also get an off-road version, which will come with several upgrades. Of course, you will notice a different styling first, but this model will hide some off-road hardware as well. This would include things like skid plates, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, standard AWD system etc.

Interior

On the other side, the GMC Terrain 2024 probably won’t feature any bigger changes on the inside. Of course, we will see new materials and color schemes, but the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on a nice cabin that looks attractive and offers solid build quality. Still, we have to admit that rivals look more upscale from the inside.

What we like about this SUV is a boxy shape, which provides a lot of interior room. The front row is very generous with space. Seats are comfortable, though would use additional support. The second row accommodates adults with ease too, while the cargo area also offers pretty decent numbers for the class. In numbers, it goes around 29.6 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 63.3 cubic feet behind the first row, which is quite adequate for a compact SUV.

Features

The current model comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen. Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker stereo, four USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. We expect that this update could bring a couple of additions, such as a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, which is currently optional. Things like wireless charging, HD Radio and a better audio system could be added to the list of standard equipment.

When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with things like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, the following distance indicator, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning, so we don’t believe there is much room for upgrades.
